How do I update my voter file?
Only you (or your county clerk) can change your voter registration. Here's how, in a few minutes.
Need to vote this year?
Drop your ballot at any official drop box. You can also register, update your registration and vote in person at a Voter Service and Polling Center, right through Election Day.
Check your registration first
See the address, party and status the state has on file for you.
Moved within Colorado
Update your address online with the Colorado Secretary of State. Have your Colorado driver's license or state ID number ready.
Moved out of Colorado
Cancel your Colorado registration, then register where you live now.
A family member passed away
We're sorry for your loss.
In most cases there's nothing you need to do. Every month the state registrar sends the Colorado Secretary of State a list of Coloradans who have died, and counties also check Social Security death records through ERIC, a program Colorado shares with other states. When the record matches, the county clerk cancels the registration.
Those lists can take a few weeks. If a ballot still arrives, or you'd rather take care of it now, a family member can tell the county clerk directly with a signed letter giving their full name, date of birth and address, or with the county's form for a deceased family member.

Received a ballot for someone who doesn't live here?
Don't put it in a drop box. Mark the envelope, write "Return to sender" on the front and put it back in the mail. That tells the county the address is out of date.
